Bridal Portraits

bride_seatedOne of my most favorite aspects of being a wedding photographer is creating the bridal portrait.

Either during a separate Bridal Session a week or two before the wedding or a mini-Bridal Session on the day of the wedding, it allows us to create artwork that captures the glow of a woman in her wedding dress.  Depending on the bride, the image may be more subtle and subdued.  Other times, the imagery may be more punchy.  It depends on the bride…and it depends on the dress.

Kansas City offers quite a few locations that can serve as beautiful settings for bridal portraits.  In fact, this bridal image of Katy was supposed to have been taken at one of those beautiful outdoor locations.  However, on the day of her wedding it was very hot and very humid!  I’ve been asked if this image was taken in a studio–it wasn’t.  We were able to carve out a small section of the church’s sanctuary to use it in creating this image.
